Adhesives

Krycell is designed to be fixed into position using any clear aerosol spray. It's up to you what you use as an adhesive, but bear these seven points in mind.
1/ How permanent do you want your application to be? 2/ Different aerosols produce different amounts of spray. 3/ Different aerosols produce smoother or rougher spray patterns 4/ Hair Lacquer for instance produces a fine spray but builds quickly 5/ Clear Acrylic car lacquer gives a fine spray that builds very slowly 6/ Always choose an adhesive that meets your needs. 7/ A fine spray with a slow subtle build is what you may need for smaller items, or perhaps you just want to give the impression of frost an a larger model |

Krycell is set when the adhesive you have used has dried, whether this is in seconds, minutes or hours. However, successive applications of Krycell can be applied before the layer beneath has hardened to gain depth quite quickly.
With care, this means that you can apply and re-apply successive layers fast to achieve an accurate representation of heavy snowfall quickly. Trial and error will determine what is best for you, dependent on what adhesive you use, and how much is applied between coats.
The only restriction is if you were to accidentally knock off some Krycell when brushing etc, between coats because of the type of adhesive you are using . This usually applies to hairspray type adhesives. One way to prevent this happening is to place the object in a warm place to dry off before brushing and tapping between coats.
Whatever you use to stick the Krycell, the surface has to be tacky for the Krycell powder to adhere. Also remember that this product works best when applied from the same direction as yhour adesive, mimicking natural blizzard and vertical snowfall.
Obviously, for uniform frost, you spray all over the object, or model and apply the Krycell the same all over as well.

The sieve

The high quality stainless steel 700 micron sieve we have supplied for your use, should be used to distribute your Snow and Ice effects, filtering unwanted fibres and deposits as you go. It should also be used to sieve the collected medium before returning it to your main supply of Ice and Snow effects.
Your whole supply of Ice and Snow effects can be refreshed periodically by sieving to remove accumulated debris accumulated by use, to preserve the quality of Krycell powders. |
